1Eliahab the high priest and his fellow priests went to work and rebuilt the sheep gate. They dedicated it and set it's doors in place, building as far as the tower of the hundred, which they dedicated, and as far as the Tower of Hananel.
(The sheepgate was the gate used to bring sheep from the city into the Temple for sacrifice, it is upon this gate where the Church of St. Anne is built)

ACT 12:1-3
1It was about this time that King Herod (Agrippa I) arrested some who belonged to the church, intending to persecute them. 2He had James, the brother of John, put to death with the sword. 3When he saw this pleased the Jews, he proceeded to seize Peter also. ACT 12:19-23
19Then Herod (Agrippa I) went from Judea to Caesarea and stayed there awhile. 20He had be quarreling with the people of Tyre and Sidon; they now joined together and sought an audience with him. Having secured the support of Blastus, a trusted personal serva nt of the King, they asked for peace, because they depended on the King's country for their food supply.
21On the appointed day Herod, wearing his royal robes, sat on his throne and delivered a public address to the people, 22They shouted, "This is the voice of a god, not a man." 23Immediately, because Herod (Agrippa I) did not give praise to GOD, an angle of the LORD struck him down, and he was eaten by worms and died. (To be eatened by worms, parasites, was considered on of the most disgraceful ways to die)

Prophecy:
MATT 2:1-9
1After JESUS was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the time of King Herod (The Great), Magi from the East came to Jerusalem 2and asked, "Where is the one who has been born King of the Jews? We saw HIS star in the East and have come to worship HIM." 3When Herod heard this he was disturbed, and all Jerusalem with him. 4When he had called together all the people's chief priests and teachers of the law, he asked them where the CHRIST was to be born. 5"In Bethlehem in Judea," they replied, "for this is what the prophet has written: " 6But you, Bethlehem, in the land of Judah, are by no means least among the rulers of Judah; for out of you will come a ruler who will be the shepherd of my people Israel" (Micah 5:2) 7Then Herod called the Magi secretly and found out from them the exact time the star had appeared. 8He sent them to Bethlehem and said, "Go and make a careful search for the CHILD. As soon as you find HIM report to me, so that I too may go and worship HIM."
Slaughter:
MATT 2:13-18
13When they had gone (Magi) an Angel of the LORD appeared to Joseph in a dream. "Get up," he said, "take the CHILD and HIS Mother and escape to Egypt. Stay there until I tell you, for Herod is going to search for the CHILD to kill HIM." 14so he got up, took the CHILD and HIS Mother during the night and left for Egypt, where 15he stayed until the death of Herod. and so was fulfilled what the LORD has said through the Prophet: "Out of Egypt I called my SON."(Hosea 11:1) 16When Herod realized that he had been outwitted by the Magi, he was furious, and he gave orders to kill all boys in Bethlehem and it's vacinity who were two years old and under in accordance with the time he had learned from the Magi. 17Then what was said through the Prophet Jeremiah was fulfilled: 18" A voice is heard in Ramah, weeping and great mourning, Rachel weeping for her children and refusing to be comforted, because they are no more." (Jer. 31:15)

Territory received from his father:
MATT 2:21-22
21So he got up, took the CHILD and HIS Mother and went to the land of Israel. 22But when he heard the Archelaus was reigning in Judea in the place of his father Herod, he was afraid to go there. Having been warned in a dream, he withdrew to the district of Galilee,
Kills John the Baptist:
MATT 14:1-12
At that time Herod the Tetrarch (Antipas) heard the reports about JESUS, 2and he said to his attendants "This is John the Baptist; he has risen from the dead! That is why miraculous powers are at work in him." 3Now Herod (Antipas) had arrested John and bound him and put him in prison because Herodias, his brother Philip's (Herod) wife, 4for John had been saying to him: "It is not lawful for you to have her." 5Herod (Antipas) wanted to kill John, but he was afraid of the people, because they considered him a prophet. 6On Herod's (Antipas') birthday the daughter of Herodias danced for them and pleased Herod (Antipas) so much 7that he promised with an oath to give her whatever she asked. 8Prompted by her mother, she said, "Give me the here on a platter the head of John the Baptist." 9The King was distressed, but because of his oaths and his dinner guests, he ordered the request be granted 10and had John beheaded in the prison. 11His head was brought on a platter and given to the girl, who carried to her mother. 12John's disciple's came and took his body and buried it. Then they went and told JESUS.
To John the Baptist and HerodiasRole in JESUS' trial:
LUKE 23:6-12
6On hearing this, Pilate asked if the MAN was a Galilean. 7When he learned that JESUS was under Herod's jurisdiction, he sent HIM to Herod (Antipas), who was also in Jerusalem at that time. 8When Herod (Antipas) saw JESUS he was well greatly pleased, because for a long time he had been wanting to see HIM. From what he had heard about HIM, he hoped to see HIM perform some miracle. 9He plied HIM with many questions, but JESUS gave him no answer. 10The chief priest and teachers of the law were standing there, vehemently accusing HIM. 11Then Herod (Antipas) and his soldiers ridiculed and mocked HIM. Dressing HIM in an elegant robe, they sent HIM back to Pilate. 12That day Herod (Antipas) and Pilate became friends -- before this they had been enemies.
To Herod AntipasPilate
JESUS sent to Pilate:
MATT 27:1-2
1Early in the morning all the chief priests and the elders of the people came to the decision to put JESUS to death. 2They bound HIM, led HIM away and handed HIM over to Pilate, the Govenor
.LK 23:1-7
1Then the whole assembly rose and led HIM off to Pilate, 2and they began to accuse HIM, saying, "We found this MAN subverting our nation, HE opposes payment of taxes to Caesar and claims to be CHRIST the KING." 3So Pilate asked JESUS, "Are you the King of the Jews?" "Yes, it is as you say." JESUS replied. 4Then Pilate announced to the chief priests and the crowd, "I find no basis for a charge against this MAN." 5But they insisted, "HE stirs up the people all over Judea by HIS teaching. HE started in Galilee and has come all the way here." 6On hearing this, Pilate asked if the MAN was Galilean. 7When he learned that JESUS was under Herod's (Antipas') jurisdiction, he sent HIM to Herod, who was also in Jerusalem at that time.
Hands JESUS over to be crucified:
LK 23:13-23
13Pilate called together the chief priests, the rulers and the people, 14and said to them, "You brought me this MAN as one who was inciting the people to rebellion. I have examined HIM in your presence and have found no basis for your charges against HIM. 15Neither has Herod's (Antipas'), for he sent HIM back to us; as you can see, HE has done nothing to deserve death. 16Therefore, I will punish HIM and then release HIM." 18With one voice they cried out, "Away with this man! Release Barabbas to us!", and 20Wanting to release JESUS, Pilate appealed to them again. 21But they kept shouting "Crucify HIM! Crucify HIM!" 22For the third time he spoke to them: "Why? What crime has this MAN committed? I have found in him no grounds for the death penalty. Therefore I will have HIM punished and then released HIM."
MATT 27:24-26
24When Pilate saw that he was getting nowhere, but that instead an uproar was starting, he took water and washed his hands in front of the crowd. "I am innocent of this MAN'S blood," he said "It is your responsibility!" 25All the people answered, "Let HIS blood be on us and our children!" 26Then he released Barabbas to them. But he had JESUS flogged, and handed HIM over to be crucified.
To PilateTake up the bed and walk:
MATT 9:1-8
1JESUS stepped into a boat, crossed over and came to his own town. 2Some men brought to HIM a paralytic, lying on a mat. When JESUS saw their faith, HE said the paralytic, "Take heart, son; your sins are forgiven." 3At this some of the teachers of the law said to themselves, "this fellow is blaspheming!" 4Knowing their thoughts, JESUS said "Why do you entertain evil thoughts on your hearts?" 5Which is easier: to say, " your sins are forgiven" or to say "Get up and walk?" 6But so that you may know that the SON OF MAN has authority on earth to forgive sins..." Then HE said to the paralytic, "Get up, take your mat and go home." 7and the man got up and went home 8when the crowd saw this, they were filled with awe, and they praised GOD, who had given such authority to men.
